EpicSafe is a safer alternative to ethidium bromide for nucleic acid detection in agarose gels. It integrates into agarose gel electrophoresis protocols and emits green fluorescence upon binding to DNA or RNA. This dye exhibits two secondary fluorescence excitation peaks at approximately 270 and 290 nm, and a single excitation peak at 490 nm. Its fluorescence emission resembles that of ethidium bromide when bound to DNA, peaking at around 530 nm. This ensures compatibility with a wide range of gel reading instruments.
